A0 Geological Heritage of Papuk Geopark

1 day, 10.10.2010. (Sunday), Zagreb - Papuk - Zagreb.
Zagreb - Pakrac - Kamenska  - Vranovo (phyllonite, retrograde metamorphosed rocks) - Trešnjevica (volcanic rocks - basalt, andesite, rhyolite, occurrence, relations, granitoids) - Rupnica (rhyolite, structures, columnar jointing) - Jankovac (medium to high grade metamorphic rocks, conglomerate, sandstone, dolomite, tufa, geology of Papuk Geopark, meal) - Kutjevo (Kutjevačka Rijeka transect, sedimentary rocks, low to medium grade metamorphic rocks, wine tasting) - Zagreb.

Price: 300 Kn (40 EUR). Includes: transport, meal in the field, wine tasting, Field trip Guidebook.

Start: 7:00 am, in front of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering, Pierottijeva 6, Zagreb
Stops: 1. Trbuk-Šaj Kamen (Pogarska Series, Scaglia, Paleogene limestones), 2. Maglaj (andesite-dacite-trachyandesite), Lunch break in Žepče, 3. Žepče-Papratnica (ofiolite mélange), Dinner and accommodation in Žepče.
Day 2: October 12 (Tuesday)
Start: 8:00 am
Stops: 4. Žepče-Ograjina (ultramafite), 5. Nemila (radiolarite), 6. Vranduk (flysch), 7. Lašva (Lašva conglomerates), Lunch break in Lašvanska Valley, 8. Novi Travnik (marbles), 9. Ravno Rostovo I. (Travnička Series), 10. Ravno Rostovo II. (granodiorite), Dinner and accommodation on Kupres.
DAY 3: October, 13 (Wednesday)
Start: 8:00 am
Stops: 11. Kupres (carbonate Dinarides, generally), 12. Studena Vrila (bauxite and Promina Formation), 13. Ostrožac (lacustrine Neogene), Lunch break in Trilj, 14. Sinj - Lučane (lacustrine limestones with coal seams), Arrival to Solaris about 6:00 pm.

Costs: 1750 Kn (240 EUR). The costs include transportation, two accommodations with dinner and breakfast, three lunches, Field trip Guidebook. Participants will be accommodated in shared rooms.

A2 - Geological field-trip across Croatian Dinarides Mts.: geology, hydrogeology and mineral resources

2 days, 12. - 13.10.2010. (Thursday - Wednesday), Zagreb - Solaris.
DAY 1: 12. 10. 2010. (Thursday)
Departure from Zagreb.
Stop 1 - Plitvice lakes - hydrogeology, geology, origin of lakes, formation of calcareous tufa, tufa-making biota.
Stop 2 - Gacka river fountains: Majerovo vrilo, Tonkovića vrilo, Pećina - hydrogeology and hydrochemistry .
Night in Gospić.
DAY 2: 13.10.2010. (Wednesday)
Stop 3 - Sv. Rok - Obrovac road, via Tulove grede - carbonate platform evolution and stratigraphy (Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and „Jelar deposits“).
Stop 4 - Obrovac - Karamarkuša locality - Palaeogene boxites.
Stop 5 - „Benkovac stone“ - Mejanica locality.
Arrival to the hotel Solaris (Šibenik) in the evening.

B1 - Geology of southern Kornati archipelago

1 day, 16.10.2010. (Saturday), Solaris - Kornati - Solaris.
900 am. Departure by boat from Solaris Hotels Resorts.
Cruise between islands of Šibenik archipelago. Stop 1 (from boat): Škulj island geological structure. Stop 2. (from boat): fault scarp and tufa(?) of Lavsa island. Stop 3. (from boat): Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene carbonate succession of Lavsa island. Stop 4. Contact of Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene carbonates on Ravni Žakan island and correlation with Kate-1 borehole.
Lunch (fish menu).
1900 pm. Arrival to Solaris hotels resort.

1 day, 16.10.2010. (subota), Solaris - Krka - Solaris.
900 am. Departure by boat from Solaris Hotels Resort.
Cruise through St. Ante channel. Stop 1. (from boat) Submerged Krka river estuary and recent depositional regime Stop 2. Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene carbonate succession at the channel. Stop 3. (from boat): Recent deposition in Šibenik bay and influence of the town of Šibenik and its industry. Stop 4. (from boat): Prokljan and deposition under influence of Krka and Guduča rivers on submerged tufa barriers. Transit to boats of NP Krka in Skradin and cruise to Skradinski Buk waterfalls: Stop 5. Tufa barriers and a tale about Miljevci plateau and Krka river incision.
Lunch (fish menu).
1900 pm. Arrival to Solaris Hotels Resort.

Stops: 1. Pantan spring at Trogir; 2. Eko-Kaštela bay (from bus); 3. Cemex quarries (ex. Dalmacijacement) at Kaštela; 4. Gypsum quarry Slane Stine at Sinj; 5.Waterfals Krčić and Krka river spring at Knin; 6. Una river spring at Srb; 7. Cerovačke Caves at Gračac; 8. Engineering-geological study for geotechnical project of Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik highway (from bus).
Arrival to Zagreb at 21:30 pm.

Day 1, October, 16. 2010. (Saturday)
Start: 8:00 am, hotel "Ivan", Solaris (Šibenik)
Stop 1. Uzdaj: A fundamental stratigraphic surface: the sequence boundary.
Stop 2. Krka: Stratigraphic position of fossiliferous limestones, maximum flooding.
Stop 3. Arkanđel: Highstand shelf: wave ripples and turbidites together?
Stop 4. Lišnjak: Lacustrine transgression. From muddy shelf to Gilbert delta.
DAY 2, October, 17 .2010. (Sunday)
Stop 5. Mikulići: Initiation: ramp limestones and subsidence.
Stop 6. Šopot A: "Flysch-like Beds"? Sand lobes without classical turbidites.
Stop 7. Šopot B: Flysch or delta? Deep or shallow? Role of rivers in flood.
Stop 8. Karin: Transgressive-regressive turnaround. Stratigraphic correlation.
Stop 9. Krš/Kruševo: Processes at the basin margin.
End: approx. 22:00 pm in Zagreb.
